Glassmaking today
For an overview of liquidated and inactive glassworks, see
Historical glassworksAlthough refined and crafty glass producers have had a hard time competing with mass-produced machine glass, there are still hundreds of glass manufacturers and artists actively making glass and crystal items today. Most of them are focused on making tableware, bowls, vases and decorative items, like crystal figurines and collectables.
The list below gives an overview - as complete as possible - of the glassworks that are currently active and stand out by setting a high quality standard for their products. A lot of them have been making glassware for over decades, even centuries and build on the experience of several generations of craftsmanship. Some of them may have changed their portfolio to a more industrial line of products (sheet glass, technical glass, etc.), but their history of artistry requires them to be included in this list.
